Hide Drives from My Computer

Whether you want to play prank or you do not want some drives to occupy your 'My Computer' space for either Security or Other reasons, this one may help you.

Trick :   Hide your Drives from My Computer
OS    :   Windows XP and Later

  1. Open Registry Editor ( Got to Run and then type 'Regedit' )
  2. Navigate to the following key :

  3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
  4. In the right pane, create a new DWORD value named 'NoDrives'. (If it is already present do not bother creating a new one)

  5. Double click on 'NoDrives'
  6. The drives can be made hidden by using the following nos.(The letters denote the drive letter)

  7. A: 1, B: 2, C: 4, D: 8, E: 16, F: 32, G: 64, H: 128, I: 256, J: 512, 
    K: 1024, L: 2048, M: 4096, N: 8192, O: 16384, P: 32768, Q: 65536, 
    R: 131072, S: 262144, T: 524288, U: 1048576, V: 2097152, W: 4194304, 
    X: 8388608, Y: 16777216, Z: 33554432, ALL: 67108863
    To hide D drive and E drive

  8. For example if you want to hide 'C' Drive, enter 4 in the 'Value data' test box.
  9. For hiding two or more drives add the numbers of the corresponding drives. For hiding C(4),D(8) and E(16), 4+8+16 = 28 has to be entered.
  10. To hide all the drives set the value to "67108863".
  11. Make sure that 'Decimal' is selected as the base value. Click on OK. 
  12. Close the Registry Editor. Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

  13. To Undo/Restore the drives either delete the DWORD value 'NoDrives' or change its value to '0'.
