Lock down your Windows PC through Bluetooth Device

Many of you may know this already, but this is for those who dont. You can use bluetooth enabled devices to lock your PC. Whenever you switch off the bluetooth in your device or move out of range, your system will lock down automatically, thus preventing someone to use your PC without your consent.

The one I am going to use is BTProx, an open source software.

Prerequisite : .NET Framework 3.5 ( Download here )

  1. Download BTProx from here
  2. Install it.
  3. Enable the Bluetooth in both PC and your device.
  4. First, you need to pair your device to your PC.
  5. From the System Tray, double click BTProx icon.

  6. Click '...' button next to 'Used device' . This will search for available Bluetooth devices.
  7. Select the paired device and then set Timeout time.
  8. Then click on 'Start'. Once the 'Used device' goes out of range your PC will get locked up ( Of course, you need to have a password )
I hope this one may have proved to be a fun filled or rather useful information.
