GIMP 2.8's stable release has been released and installing GIMP downloaded from GIMP's official site is really an ordeal. Also the Ubuntu Software Centre only contains an outdated version (2.6.2). Here I show you how to install GIMP 2.8 in Ubuntu 12.04

  1. Make sure that internet connection is present
  2. Now open the terminal and type the following :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp

Tadaa thats it...

This will install GIMP in your Precise Pangolin. Now wasn't that much easier. Stay tuned for more tips
